Cacheila Soto González (brief biography, 1979-2003)

Born in Mayaguez, and is a native of Aguada, Puerto Rico in 1979. She’s a compromising multidisciplinary artist, standing out in the medium of painting and in the same way in the photographs, murals, video art and mixed media on different surfaces. The most recognized medium in her career is the painting and with no doubt it is provocative and evocative. During 1993-1998 studied at the School Eladio Tirado Lopez in Aguada Puerto Rico. While she was studying in middle and senior school she represented in several regional and national competitions. In 1996, he founded an art club at school. In 1996-1997, the Senate of Puerto Rico gave two resolutions for standing out in the Visual Arts and the Best Poster Award of the Triple S. Also, from 1993-1998 she studied at the Training Center and Fine Arts at the site of Ramey Air Force Base, Aguadilla Puerto Rico, where she earned a concentration in Visual Arts and organized several exhibitions alongside their colleagues in several towns of the island. In 1998 she graduated from both schools and received several awards, including the award of the Excellence Student in the concentration of the Visual Arts and the Excellence Student of all concentrations of the Training Center and Fine Arts (Centro de Adiestramiento y Bellas Artes). In the summer of 1998, was appointed by the municipality of Aguada to conduct a thematic mural project in the Plaza of El Quinto Centenario in Aguada, Puerto Rico. That same year exhibited at the Capitol in San Juan, Puerto Rico, graduated from high school and in the art school. After graduating from high school she decided to move to the metropolitan area and where chosen to study in the concentration in painting at the School of Fine Arts (Escuela de Artes Plásticas) , Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 2000, she became President of the Student Council and organized several group exhibitions and like the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico Cupey, Center of Fine Arts (Centro de Bellas Artes) in Guaynabo Puerto Rico and on the campus of the School of Fine Arts, Old San Juan Puerto Rico. For 2001, was selected by the Friends of the School of Visual Arts (Los Amigos de la Escuela de Artes Plasticas), to travel to ARCO in Spain. In 2002 a mural entitled "Do not take away years from your life just add life to the years" in the Egis of the Teacher (Égida del Maestro), San Juan Puerto Rico. In 2002, she collaborated using the medium of video art, sound art and photography on several projects with her university teachers. For 2003, while completing the bachelor degree, had her first solo exhibition titled The Extraction and Abstraction for the Subconscious in the gallery La Pintadera, a subject that was part of her graduation thesis on the concentration in painting. This exhibit counted with 20 large-format paintings where the opening captivated the public's of the of visual arts acceptance. This was the beginning of her career. That same year she graduated with honors from the university with a concentration in painting from the School of Plastic Arts of Puerto Rico.
